Ember the Dragon House of The Ruby Flame
Element: Fire
Sign: Aquarius (January 24)
She was on fire when I found her.
When I first dreamed the Guardians into shape, Ember didn’t wait to be introduced. She was mid-argument with a mountain, apparently about something the mountain had done, and when she noticed me, she said, “About time. You got pie?”
She knew why she was here before I finished explaining. She complained about it the whole way to the first meeting and showed up early anyway, because that’s what she does, as she’s always done, and always will.
Who Ember Is
Ember the Dragon is the Guardian of the House of the Ruby Flame in The Sparkleverse™ School of Magic. She’s the loudest thing in any room she’s ever walked into, and could start a fight in an empty house. If you catch her at the right moment, she’s loving and the most loyal creature you’ll ever meet.
She is not what people expect when they expect a fire dragon. She’s not a hothead. She’s an Aquarius underneath all that flame, which means there’s cool air running through the core of her. She doesn’t rage. She decides. Her fire is just an expression, not the cause.
She has a forge-cart she’s restored 15 times that nobody else is allowed to drive. It rumbles and rattles in a specific way that she can identify from fifty yards out, and she will notice immediately if anyone adjusts anything about baby, and there will be hell to pay. It keeps on running because it’s stubborn about running. She’s applied this philosophy to most things in her life with roughly consistent results.
Her favorite word is awesome. She uses it constantly, often for things that are objectively not awesome. “The cave is collapsing. Awesome.” It is important to her that you understand she is not being sarcastic. She genuinely finds collapsing caves interesting. She’s a dragon. Collapsing things is her whole aesthetic.
She loves 70s and 80s rock. The loud stuff. She is eating basically always, and her preferred foods are cheeseburgers, bacon, and pie. Cherry, if you’re asking. Apple, if you’re not.
What She Carries
Ember has been the loudest in the room so long that she’s lost track of how to ask to be soft.
The swagger is real. The confidence is real. And underneath both of those things is someone who is tired of being the show. Tired of being the one who walks in first and takes the hit so nobody else has to. Tired of delivering the honest truth wrapped in a joke, so she doesn’t have to admit she said it.
She has a tender side. It shows up in the cracks between the jokes, if you know where to look. She’ll deny it with her whole chest. But she’s there for you in a way that most people never experience from anyone, full stop, no conditions, no exit. She doesn’t fake care. She doesn’t give partial loyalty. If she’s chosen you, she’s chosen you.
That’s the thing about fire. It’s not selective about what it warms.
The Aquarius underneath also means she doesn’t particularly care what anyone thinks about how she operates. She has figured out what she believes, and she’s living it, and if that’s inconvenient for other people’s expectations, that’s what she’d call their problem.
She’s not being difficult. She’s just not adjusting herself to make other people comfortable, and she’s been like this for long enough that she’s stopped apologizing for it.
What She Sees In You
If Ember is your Guardian, you already know what too much energy feels like from the inside.
You have more ideas than you have bandwidth for. You start things on fire and sometimes burn through them faster than they can hold up.
You’ve been told you’re a lot. You probably are a lot. You have also noticed that the people who said that were usually the ones who needed you most when things got hard.
You lead from the front. Not because you decided to be a leader, but because you walked into a situation and someone needed to go first, and you went. That’s not ambition. That’s just how you’re built.
You also have more tenderness in you than you let on. The humor is real, but it’s also armor. The swagger is real, but it’s also easier than explaining the part of you that just wants to be allowed to be small sometimes without it being a whole thing.
That’s Fire magic. That’s what you’re carrying. The Ruby Flame is where you learn what to do with it.
The House of the Ruby Flame
The House of the Ruby Flame is not a place for people who have their fire figured out. It’s a place for people who are still learning the difference between burning bright and burning through.
Fire destroys and creates in equal measure. Ember teaches both. The Ruby Flame knows that courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s Ember eating a cheeseburger mid-crisis because someone has to keep their blood sugar up, and she’s decided it might as well be her. The fearlessness here is practical. It’s earned. It smells faintly of forge-smoke.
What lives in this House connects to that energy.
- Visibility work for people who are tired of playing small.
- Bold pricing for people who know what they’re worth and keep talking themselves down anyway.
- Launches that don’t apologize for taking up space.
- The part of a multi-passionate strategy that’s about momentum and fire and making the move instead of planning the move for the sixth consecutive season.
Ember doesn’t wait for permission. The Ruby Flame doesn’t teach you to wait for it either.
A Note from Ember (roughly translated)
She was eating pie when she said this. She’d been at it for a while. She looked up long enough to make eye contact and said:
“Here’s what I know. The people who tell you you’re too much are always going to need you when it actually matters. So you can tone yourself down waiting for them to be comfortable, or you can be ready. Your call. Also, this is the best pie I’ve had in three villages. Awesome.”
Then she went back to the pie and had a second piece.
House Colors & Symbols
- Ruby red for the fire that doesn’t ask permission and the passion that runs deeper than anyone expects.
- Gold for the thing being built in the heat, the thing that comes out the other side of the hard part.
- The phoenix, because fire doesn’t end things. It changes them. The Ruby Flame knows the difference between the two.
